Why must all infotainment units scroll song titles?

It seems that every car I get in these days has some gee-wiz infotainment unit, for whatever reason though every single one of them utilizes only 50% of the available screen real-estate.

The picture above is a poor example of what I'm talking about since the song title actually fits, but the line above displays the name of my phone. It would easily fit, but oh no, only 30% of that line can be used for displaying text.

Why do automakers love scrolls lines of text so much?

I guess they want it to look clean. It would look horrid if there was text from edge to edge, I guess.

Ya, ok maybe not side to side completely, but you don't need a third of the screen as a margin on either side
